United Kingdom

The United Kingdom pack is designed around a complete supplier journey: identify the legal company, inspect supported official records, apply the buyer's policy, and preserve evidence for later review or reuse.

Official-source foundation

Companies House is a central source for company identity and recorded company information. The UK Sanctions List supports a different class of claim. The sources are complementary, not interchangeable. A company registry record does not prove the absence of sanctions; a sanctions search does not prove legal status or bank-account ownership.

What a UK company check means

A Company Check can resolve the legal entity and report supported status facts from available sources. It should display the company number and matching basis whenever possible. It does not use phrases such as “good standing” unless a source and policy define that claim precisely for the UK context.

Supplier approval

A full supplier decision can combine:

  1. legal-entity resolution;
  2. supported legal-status evidence;
  3. applicable restriction screening;
  4. buyer policy and required documents;
  5. invoice or payee checks when the onboarding process requires them;
  6. conditions, remediation, and validity.

A buyer can require REVIEW even when public records look normal—for example, when the supplier category requires a licence, insurance document, human approval, or stronger payee evidence.

Important boundaries

  • Companies House availability and access health affect fresh registry decisions.
  • UK sanctions data must be monitored for freshness and schema changes.
  • Invoice-to-company matching does not by itself prove invoice authenticity or uniqueness.
  • Payee matching must fail safely when binding evidence is insufficient.
  • A supplier approval applies only to the named buyer policy, purpose, and validity period.
  • A capability that is technically implemented but inactive must not be sold as live.

Example: onboarding a UK supplier

An agent receives “Northstar Services,” a company number, an invoice, and payment details. It resolves the company number, checks supported company facts, runs the applicable restriction step, and evaluates the buyer's supplier policy. If identity and status are supported but bank-account binding is not, the agent may receive REVIEW with a request for approved payee verification. It must not turn the completed company steps into permission to pay.

Production use

Before use, inspect the catalog, country coverage, source health, and release identity. Validate synthetic cases for active company, ambiguous identity, source outage, conditioned capability, payment requirement, idempotency, and replay. Promote to real supplier data only after the customer's decision mapping and approval boundaries are tested.
